The GreenHouse Emission is an semi-monthly email newsletter in which I alert friends and subscribers to upcoming Chicago arts & music events that I think are of interest - things you'd otherwise miss. GreenHouse Music on WTTW - Set your DVRs!:

I've been working wih the show 'Fear No Art - Chicago' and my music will be featured in episode 3 of the show on WTTW at the end of this month. It's a particularly good show and this next episode has interviews with Joyce Piven, Joan Cusack and Tony Fitzpatrick. Very cool.

You can see it on WTTW 3/31 at 10pm, 4/3 at 12 Noon, 4/6 at 10:30pn and also on WTTW Prime at 4/1 4pm, 4/7 4:30pm, 4/9 5pm

In the meantime, Fear No Art has just release a new websiode on their website - and interview with art collector Candace Jordan - which features an original acoustic piece I wrote and performed. Check it out below:

From last week's gig - 'Cripple Creek':

For those of you who couldn't make it last week - here's a little taste of the gig. Feel free to add something extra in the tip jar when you see me play out next...

"Music for Imaginary Films" :

I'm working on some film music right now and as soon as I have something to share, I'll post it. In the meantime, if you haven't already checked out the compositions below, take a listen.

The compositions are mainly guitar-centric, unsurprisingly. This allows a rich variety of textures from pristine acoustic and processed electric guitars.

1: 'Uncle Gerhardt' - Steven Soderburgh directs film on life/work of artist Gerhardt Richter.

2. 'Largo': Paul Thomas Anderson adapts a series of Michael Chabon short stories (and first choice Jon Brion was unavailable to write the score)

3. 'Chinaski': Quentin Tarantino does Charles Bukowski.

4. 'Some Rhodes': Clint Eastwood remakes 'Dirty Harry', reprising elements of the original Lalo Schifrin score.

5. 'Amber': Ridley Scott directs a beer/financial services/car commercial

6. 'Strung': David Mamets adapts and directs Jim Thompson's 'Killer inside'

7. 'Holden': The Coen Brothers adapt and direct Cormac McCarthy's 'Blood Meridian.'

8. 'Ceci n'est pas un disco': Wim Wenders remakes Run Lola Run:

9. 'Shearsmen': Wes Anderson writes and directs film based on Wallace Steven's poem 'Man With Blue Guitar'

10. 'Calder': Jason Reitman directs film about man obsessed with the sculptor/engineer Alexander Calder.

Upcoming Gigs :

Every second Thursday of the month, I play at Lizard's Liquid Lounge, playing between 7:30 and 9:30pm. 3058 W Irving Park Road. And whilst I cannot confirm this, I believe it's $4 Margartita night.

I'll be performing solo eclectic strangeness electro-acoustic guitar in the style of Leo Kottke, Bill Frisell, John Fahey, Marc Ribot and Nels Cline. If Miles Davis played guitar and was doing the soundtrack to a Wes Anderson movie, this is what it would sound like.

The Nest (Sound Design, 2009)

This is a 60-minute piece of music, in 5 movements, designed to accompany acupuncture treatments at The Nest Acupuncture center in Lincoln Square, Chicago. It's carefully designed to complement The Nest's brand and ultimately enhance the acupuncture experience. By incorporating external sounds such as the passing 'El' Brown Line train, we embrace the externalities rather than trying to block them out.

Financial Services Video (Sound Design, 2009)

This is a video soundtrack for a financial services firm. The style is rustic Americana, to be used in the style of a 'This American Life' documentary piece.

You can hear the full instrumental piece here, then compare it against the scored version in the video.
